B2B Influencer Marketing: What Actually Works

B2B doesn't have influencers — it has trusted voices. Here's how to find and work with them.

StrategyB2BCreators

B2B brands often dismiss influencer marketing as a B2C tactic. That misses the point. B2B has influencers — they're just shaped differently. They live on LinkedIn, Substack, podcasts, and YouTube long-form. And the conversion economics are often better than B2C.

Where B2B influencers live

LinkedIn. The highest-leverage B2B creator surface. 5K–100K follower creators with niche expertise often have decision-maker audiences that paid LinkedIn ads can't reach.

Substack and Beehiiv. Independent industry analysts with 10K–50K paid subscribers. Sponsored newsletter slots convert at rates B2C would envy.

Podcasts. Mid-tier industry podcasts (5K–50K downloads) with founder and operator audiences. The 60-minute format builds trust.

YouTube long-form. Technical creators with 50K+ subscribers in dev, finance, ops categories. The audience converts on high-AOV B2B SaaS.

What works

Founder partnerships. Partner with another founder whose audience is yours. Cross-promotion, joint webinars, podcast swap.

Long-form integrations. 30-second pre-rolls don't work. 5-minute deep integrations in a podcast or YouTube video do.

Newsletter sponsorships. Particularly effective. High-intent audiences, long attention spans.

LinkedIn thought leader programs. Sustained relationships with 5–10 LinkedIn creators posting about your category over 6–12 months.

What doesn't

Press releases dressed up as creator content. Anything that reads as a paid ad on LinkedIn. Trying to use B2C influencer playbooks (TikTok dances for HR software).

Measurement

Demo requests attributed to creator channel, sales-pipeline contribution (longer attribution windows than B2C), and creator-attributed share of branded search lift.

Budget

A typical B2B program runs $20K–$200K/quarter. Lower volume than B2C, higher per-engagement cost, longer attribution windows, often better unit economics.
