CPM

Cost per thousand impressions — the price a brand pays for every 1,000 times its ad or content is shown.

Definition

CPM (cost per mille) is the most common metric for media efficiency. For creator content, brands calculate CPM by dividing the total creator fee by impressions delivered, then multiplying by 1,000.

Creator CPMs vary widely — niche micros can deliver under $5 CPMs, while celebrity-tier sponsorships often run above $50. CPM alone is a weak metric for influencer marketing because it doesn't capture conversion or trust signal; use it alongside CPA and ROAS.

Example

A creator post costs $2,000 and delivers 400,000 impressions — that's a $5 CPM, competitive with most paid social.
